I have the same problem and found that if you enter the menu and press , the image is redrawn but you get a blank screen, even if you don't change anything. But I've been able to generate a normal image with the following par entry: JOliver3 { ;Crossing Jim Oliver reset=1960 type=formula formulafile=contest4.frm formulaname=contest4 passes=1 center-mag=-1.58672921088622500/+0.00887585643687699/2.841158e+008/1/30 params=0/0 float=y maxiter=100 inside=zmag potential=255/500000/1000 ; /16bit invert=2.78728566005526e-007/-1.58672991358667/0.00887553400708204 colors=00000O<19>00x00z01z<27>OszPuzOty<30>1BR09P19Q<13>MMiONkQPk<13>wwy\ zzzzwx<14>z0N<3>m2Kj2Jh3I<13>4B7<9>EXLCYLA_K<14>zyyzzz<19>uu0<16>yyvzzzy\ yy<22>GGGEEECCE<4>22E00F00G<2>00M savename=JOliver3.GIF } Cheers, - Sylvie Gallet My set of PAR files contained one which was supposed to be generated using 2 colour MONO VGA mode (i.e F8 in most cases). It looks *terrible* in any other mode. There will be those who say it looks terrible anyway :-) Unfortunately for this particular PAR file (B&WButterflies.par) the contest kit uses AF5 which is a 256 colour mode. To get the best from it you will need to (1) delete JOLIVER2.GIF then (2) run this batch file : (entered as one line) IF NOT EXIST %3.GIF ..\FRACTINT @C:%1.PAR/%2 SAVENAME=%3.GIF BATCH=Y VIEWWINDOWS=1/1/YES/160/120 VIDEO=F8 SOUND=OFF This assumes that your copy of FRACTINT.CFG has not been altered to use F8 for another colour mode. It worked for me. This now means I have submitted *two* pars that broke the contest kit. Shame faced I now exit right stage hoping that my images at least get the best chance they can. If there's anyone out there who wants to see it in the correct mode and can't (or don't want to) run the batch file above then send me an e-mail and I'll post you a copy of the thumbnail, (it's only 2516 bytes zipped) This can then replace the one in your \fractint\contest directory. Jim Oliver (3.771/1680) * SLMR 2.1a * Jay's note: Use AF1 and AF2 in the batch file. The Kit does just that.
